Yes, the spreadsheet imports are intended for a couple hundred or thousand rows, not tens of thousands.
Files must be smaller than 2 MB to the server before the session times out. Files near this size may take several hours to process. While your spreadsheet upload is processing, you will not be able to upload any other spreadsheets.
