I think my metrics are wrong. How can I double check them?

If you think one of your metrics is incorrect, here are some things to check:

  1. Ensure you understand what the metric measures, and what Portfolio Manager includes in the calculation of a given metric. You can find a comprehensive glossary of metric definitions in the Portfolio Manager Glossary. If you really want to get into the weeds, consult our Technical Reference documents.
  2. If you have more than one property use (ex: Office and Restaurant), review our guidelines for when to break out a separate property use  and what you may be able to exclude.
  3. Double check your meter bills and make sure your units are correct (esp if your units are using Millions- MCF, MWh, etc)
  4. Double check your Use Details. These FAQs might help: 
  5. Verify that the timeframe you are viewing is correct. This is especially important if you’re applying for ENERGY STAR Certification or Tenant Space Recognition.
  6. If you have a data center, make sure you are properly benchmarking it.
  7. If you have onsite solar or wind, make sure you are entering it correctly, especially if you only get net metering from your utility which can be tricky to properly enter:
