How do I connect to my utility provider?

In order for your utility to be able to exchange data with your properties and automatically upload your energy and/or water consumption data into Portfolio Manager, you will need to send a connection request to your utility.

  1. Click the "Contacts" link in the upper right.
  2. On the Contacts page, click "Add Contact."
  3. Search for your utility's account by username, account holder name or email. We recommend searching by username for the best results. Contact your utility company if you are not sure of the username.
  4. Once you find your utility's account, click the blue "Connect" button on the right to send them a connection request. Once they "accept" it you will be able to share properties with them so that they begin exchanging data with those properties via web services.
  5. When your utility accepts your connection request, a notification will appear on your MyPortfolio page.

Once you're connected, the next step is to share your property. Every utility has its own rules for how to share properties with them. We suggest you follow their instructions (you can find a link in this FAQ).
