Custom Intensity Metrics allow you to create a metric by choosing a numerator and a denominator: [Choose any Energy/Water/GHG metric] per [Choose an existing or custom Property Use]. Some examples are:
- [Site Energy] per [Student]
- [Water Use] per [Hotel Room Sold]
- [GHG Emissions] per [Widgets Manufactured]
- [Weather Normalized Source Energy] per [Worker on Main Shift]
- [Indirect GHG Emissions] per [Hospital Bed]
You can create these metrics for individual properties on the Summary tab:
New metrics available:
- Custom Metric 1 - Name
- Custom Metric 1 - Value
- Custom Metric 1 - Units
- Custom Metric 2 - Name
- Custom Metric 2 - Value
- Custom Metric 2 - Units
- Custom Metric 3 - Name
- Custom Metric 3 - Value
- Custom Metric 3 - Units
This is what the metrics will look like in Custom Reports:
Property Name | Year Ending | Custom Metric 1 - Name | Custom Metric 1 - Value | Custom Metric 1 - Units | Custom Metric 2 - Name | Custom Metric 2 - Value | Custom Metric 2 - Units |
Sample Property | 12/31/2022 | Source Energy Use per Refrigeration area | 374.4 | kBtu/ft² | Water Use (All Water Sources) per Number of Hotel Rooms Sold | 235.7 | kgal |
Other notes:
- These new metrics are at the property level, meaning you can create different custom metrics for each individual property.
- Currently, these metrics can only be created and edited one property at a time. In the future we expect to roll out functionality that would allow you to set Custom Intensity Metrics in bulk (by property type or for all properties in your portfolio).
- Anyone with Full Access to a property can create these new metrics, or update them.
- Anyone with ANY access to a property can see the metrics in reporting.
- There isn't a "Clear" function. You need to delete or overwrite what you've got add something new.
- If you change a Custom Intensity Metric, Portfolio Manager will not save a history of your previous Custom Intensity Metrics. This means if your Custom Intensity Metric #1 is "Site EUI per Student," and you decide to instead track "Site EUI per Teacher" as Custom Intensity Metric #1, then the tool will overwrite all of your Site EUI per student data.
- These metrics will be converted if necessary to match the units in your account.
