How do I add a contact?

There are two types of contacts in Portfolio Manager, those with user accounts you can connect to and those without. For sharing properties, you need to use Method 1 below to add your contact.

Method 1: Connect with another Portfolio Manager user account (to share properties you must be connected):

  • (If your potential contact doesn't have a Portfolio Manager user account, they need to first create one here: https://portfoliomanager.energystar.gov/pm/signup before you can do the steps below.)
  • Click Contacts in the top right hand corner.
  • Click the Add New Contacts/Connections button.
  • Under the Find Contact in Portfolio Manager box, enter the search criteria.  Tip: for the most accurate results, enter the individual's username in the Username field.
  • Click Search.
  • Locate the user you want to connect with.
  • Click Connect to the right. 
  • At this point, you need to wait for this person to accept your connection request to be "connected."

Method 2: Add a contact without an account connection (for example, an LP who doesn't have a Portfolio Manager account):

  • Click Contacts in the top right hand corner.
  • Click the Add New Contacts/Connections button.
  • Under Add New Contact enter the appropriate information
  • Click Add Contact
