State and Local Ordinance Rules vs. EPA Guidelines

  • Updated

EPA has a list of “rules” that a property must meet for ENERGY STAR certification. However, if you are not pursuing ENERGY STAR certification, our “rules” become “guidelines” for getting the most accurate ENERGY STAR score and metrics.

If you are required to comply with a state or local benchmarking ordinance and have a question about benchmarking your building differently than described in our guidelines, please contact your city/state directly. (see this FAQ for contact information: Contacts for state/local compliance ordinances)
