Does Portfolio Manager have a Test User Interface?

  • Updated

As of December 9, 2024, a Test User Interface (Test UI) is available for Portfolio Manager users. Please note that the Test UI is primarily intended to help web service providers make more effective use of the Test Application Programming Interface (API), which previously lacked a corresponding UI.

The Test UI is intended for organizations who use web services, to help them test their integration.  These organizations connect their systems directly with Portfolio Manager to facilitate data entry and reporting for their customers.  They have always had a full test environment in the backend, to setup their connections to Portfolio Manager.  The Test UI will enable them to see the data and simulate the experience of their customers, to help them offer seamless delivery of their services.

The Test UI should not be confused with creating a test property in Portfolio Manager.  Anyone can explore Portfolio Manager or alternate scenarios for their properties using the Test Property feature in Portfolio Manager.  Do not use the Test UI for this purpose.

There is no data shared between the Test UI and Live Portfolio Manager.  If you use the Test UI, you will need a different account (Name/Password) and you cannot share buildings between the environments.  Any building created in Live will only be in Live (Not Test) and vice versa.

You cannot apply for ENERGY STAR certification or comply with a local benchmarking ordinance using the Test UI.  Because no data is shared between the Test UI and Live Portfolio Manager, properties entered in the Test UI cannot be submitted for ENERGY STAR certification or reported to a local jurisdiction.  These activities must be performed entirely within the Live Portfolio Manager environment.
